Rx for Disaster Prescription for Disaster is my latest book. It tells why drugs are much more dangerous than you might think. It examines the grossly inadequate system to protect you from those risks. And it shows what you can do to protect yourself.
Deadly Medicine Deadly Medicine may be my favorite. This medical melodrama tells the story of a family of heart drugs that killed almost unthinkable numbers of people. The shocking part is the expert doctors who saw people drop dead but refused to blame the drug.
Lifespan While researching Lifespan:Who Lives Longer and Why I was surprised to learn that highly-touted actions such as going on a diet made little difference, but other factors--both within ourselves and the world around us--were very important.
Heart Failure Heart Failure was my first book, and it triggered a national debate about whether we had gone overboard in treating high cholesterol. It also contains a frightening inside look at how hospitals dealt with heart surgeons who were loosing too many patients.
