But the British Medicines Control Agency has issued a warning that Paxil (paroxetine) may cause violent and suicidal behaivor in children. The manufacturer of a second antidepressant, Effexor, has issued a similar warning in the United States.
The existing problem of adequate long term studies of the effect of antidepressants on the brain is even more acute in children, whose brains are still developing.
